This website will give the reader documented and researched information on kelp. Most of what is published here has been obtained from company literature, but in the promotion of kelp I can also draw from my own experience.

As an orchardist I have used this product for over 15 years. We grew over 7,000 apple and pear trees on a dwarfing rootstock and had a pick-your-own raspberry field. I applied about 1.5lbs of Kelp Extract per acre annually spreading it over eight sprays and found that it can be mixed with most other spray materials.

At the end of the season our crop was of excellent marketable yield and quality. The fruit sized well, had good colour the the greater firmness contributed to a longer shelf life. Orchardists also know that firm and healthy fruit helps withstand the onslaught of insect and disease damage more effectively.

In tests, research has shown that Kelp Extract enhances the cellular osmotic potential in many crops (i.e. it improves the cells ability to retain water) Several compounds present in Kelp Extract have been implicated in the stimulation of cellular metabolism and ultimately contribute to plant growth. They also act as cellular protectants and extend the cell's osmotic potential. Stabilizing turgor pressure and osmotic balance keeps the cellular membrances from collapsing during dry conditions.

My experience with Kelp Extract agreed with the research findings. I credited Kelp to a large extent for bigger, firmer fruit than I would have had without the aid of this marvelous and relatively inexpensive product. Mind you, I maintained the regular nutritional sprays such as magnesium, boron and calcium but the additional Kelp Extract provided me with worthwhile financial rewards.

Today, scientific tests on Kelp are being carried out regularly but our forefathers have used it for centuries. They discovered the values of Kelp on the land or feeding the raw product to their livestock. In Ireland, Scotland, England, Scandinavia and many other countries farmers have had a long and beneficial track record applying Kelp in a variety of end uses. So beneficial was Kelp as a nutrient on the land that land rent in Ireland in the 18th and 19th century was higher within 5 miles from the coastline than further inland because at that distance it paid to retrieve the Kelp from the ocean shore line and cart it to their fields.

I have been selling Kelp and the Kelp Extract to fruit and vegetable farmers, livestock farmers (goat, sheep and dairy), dog breeders, horse owners and those who make organically approved dog food. Each and everyone of these business people whether their operation produces organically certified crops or not have their own story to tell why they depend on Kelp for good nutrition.
